The 1.8L inline-4 engine can produce 132-horsepower, and the 2.4L inline-4 engine produces 158 horsepower. Both come with 5-speed manual transmission; however, a 5-speed automatic transmission is also available as an option.
There are five different trim levels of Toyota Corolla which are Base, LE (mid-range), XLE (well-equipped), S (sporty) and the top trim XRS. The XRS has the most powerful engine—a 2.4L—while all other trim levels are available with 1.8L engine. All these trims have VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) engines which improves fuel economy.
The Corolla has an estimated EPA fuel economy rating of 26 for city and 35 for highway. All the trims of Corolla have electric power steering and five-layer acoustic glass windshield that efficiently decreases the noise level. The seats of this car have also been updated making them even more comfortable.
A multifunction gauge is also available in XRS and XLE models, which shows readings of fuel consumption, average speed and elapsed time. Some other features include 4-speaker sound system, power mirrors and air-conditioning. Other features that may be found in other trim levels include wood-grain trim, 6-speaker sound system, fog lamps, front sports seats, etc.
